The Odyssey (2026) is Christopher Nolan’s grand epic adventure film adapted from Homer’s ancient Greek poem, bringing one of the world’s oldest heroic tales to the big screen. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the battle-weary king of Ithaca, whose journey home from the Trojan War becomes a legendary voyage that tests his courage, cunning and will to survive.

After ten years of war, Odysseus finally sets sail for home, but the gods have other plans for him. His ships are driven far off course into uncharted seas filled with wonders and terrors, where he and his men face monstrous creatures, powerful enchantresses, raging storms and temptations that lure tired sailors to their doom. Every island brings a new trial, every trial costs him dearly, and the shores of home seem to drift further away with each passing year.

Back in Ithaca, his faithful wife Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway, waits through the long years, weaving by day and quietly undoing her work by night to hold off the arrogant suitors who crowd her palace. Convinced the king is dead, these men feast on his wealth and press her to choose a new husband. Their son Telemachus, played by Tom Holland, grows up in his father’s shadow and sets out in search of news of the lost king.

Filmed on real oceans and rugged coastlines with Nolan’s trademark practical scale, The Odyssey is a sweeping story of endurance, loyalty and the true price of homecoming. With Robert Pattinson among a rich supporting cast, the film mixes myth, spectacle and raw human emotion, showing why the tale of one man’s stubborn refusal to give up on home has echoed down through the centuries.
