A hardworking employee who is constantly belittled by her arrogant boss finally sees their office power balance shattered when their plane crashes on a remote island during a business trip. As the only two survivors, they wash ashore with little more than wreckage, injuries and a history of resentment that neither of them can afford to ignore any longer. Neither of them yet understands how completely that single crash is about to rewrite their relationship.
On the island, the skills that were overlooked and mocked back at the office suddenly become the difference between life and death. She knows how to find water, build shelter and keep a clear head, while he discovers that money, status and a corner office mean absolutely nothing when hunger, heat and fear begin to close in around them. For the first time in her life, she is the one whose judgement actually matters out here.
What begins as an uneasy partnership slowly twists into a battle of wits, pride and control. Old humiliations resurface, favours become weapons, and every act of help carries a price, as both survivors test how far the other can be pushed before cooperation collapses into something far more dangerous and darkly funny. The island itself, beautiful and pitiless, seems to enjoy watching their fragile truce fall apart daily.
Directed by Sam Raimi, this survival story mixes horror, thriller tension and sharp dark comedy. Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien spar brilliantly as two people trapped together by disaster, forcing audiences to wonder who is really in charge, who deserves to be saved, and what rescue would even mean for either of them. Few survival films balance genuine menace and uncomfortable laughter quite as confidently as this one does.
