Resident Evil 2026

Summary:

On the worst night in Raccoon City’s history, an ordinary courier becomes the most important person in the city. Hired to deliver a mysterious package to a remote hospital, he arrives as sirens wail, streets empty and something terrible spreads through the population. Zach Cregger’s reboot places an original character inside the world of the games, faithful in tone, detail and creeping bio-horror dread.

Austin Abrams leads as the courier, forced to navigate locked wards, dark corridors and desperate survivors as the hospital becomes a death trap. Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser round out a cast of ordinary people pushed to extraordinary limits. Every delivery route turns into an escape route, and every door could hide the infected, the mutated or someone begging for help. With phones dead and roads blocked, the group must rely on memory, courage and whatever supplies they can scavenge.

Unlike earlier adaptations, this film leans into survival horror: limited resources, mounting panic and the slow reveal of Umbrella’s sins. It respects the games’ atmosphere without simply retelling a familiar hero’s story, letting Raccoon City itself feel like the main character on the night it fell. Practical tension and shocking creature encounters keep the stakes grounded and terrifyingly human throughout. Familiar locations, documents and details reward longtime players, while the original story keeps every twist uncertain for devoted fans and newcomers.

Resident Evil is a fresh, faithful nightmare about being nobody special in a city where hell has opened for everyone. It asks how far an ordinary person will go to survive, and whether delivering one package is worth crossing a city of monsters. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, this is Raccoon City as it was always meant to feel.
