O’ Romeo (2026) is a gritty romantic crime drama from director Vishal Bhardwaj, reuniting him with Shahid Kapoor for their fourth film together. Inspired by a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s celebrated book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, the film dives deep into the smoky, violent world of post-independence Bombay, where a new underworld is taking shape and loyalty is bought and sold every single day.

Shahid Kapoor plays a feared gangster, a man modelled on the real-life figure Hussain Ustara, whose name alone is enough to silence a crowded room. Ruthless in business and reckless in life, he rules his territory through fear and instinct — until love enters his world and begins to complicate every loyalty he has ever known, and every enemy he has ever made.

Triptii Dimri plays the woman who becomes the centre of this dangerous romance, while Nana Patekar and Avinash Tiwary add weight to a world of ageing dons, rising rivals and uneasy alliances. As love and ambition pull the gangster in opposite directions, the line between devotion and destruction grows thinner with every choice he makes, and the city watches to see which side of him survives.

Shot in Bhardwaj’s signature moody style, with poetry in its rage and music in its melancholy, O’ Romeo is a tale of passion set against guns, betrayal and the birth of a city’s criminal empire. It is a brooding, old-world love story where every romance carries a price — and every price, sooner or later, is paid in blood.
