Bhoot Bangla (2026) marks the much-celebrated reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan, the team behind some of Bollywood’s most loved comedies, for a horror-comedy set inside a grand old palace in Mangalpur. Akshay plays Arjun, a spoilt, debt-ridden young man whose company has collapsed and whose creditors are at his throat — until fate unexpectedly hands him an inheritance that changes everything.

The inheritance is his grandfather’s majestic ancestral palace, and Arjun quickly decides it is the perfect venue for his sister’s wedding. The locals, however, know the palace very differently. Old caretakers and wary villagers warn him about the strange happenings within its walls and about the dark legend attached to the house — a ghost said to prey upon new brides who enter it.

Arjun brushes every warning aside as village superstition, and the wedding preparations roll on in full colour, music and noise. But as eerie incidents pile up and fear quietly spreads among the guests, he is forced to dig into the palace’s mysterious past, where black magic, buried family secrets and a haunting from another era wait to be uncovered.

With Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal and Tabu adding to both the fun and the fright, Bhoot Bangla mixes Priyadarshan’s trademark situational comedy with spooky twists and turns. It is a family entertainer in the classic mould — part haunted-house mystery, part laugh riot — built around the idea that some ancestral homes hold far more than memories within their walls.
