Haiwaan (2026) is a Hindi action thriller directed by Priyadarshan, bringing Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together on screen after nearly two decades. A remake of the Malayalam hit Oppam, the film sets up a tense cat-and-mouse game between a visually impaired man with extraordinary senses and a cold-blooded killer driven by revenge.

Saif Ali Khan plays Shyam, a blind caretaker at a Mumbai housing society who makes up for his lost sight with razor-sharp hearing, smell and instinct — skills sharpened by his training as a wrestler. Shyam shares a warm bond with a retired judge in the building and the judge’s young daughter Nandini, and his quiet, routine life revolves around looking after the people who trust him. The residents lean on him for everything from fixing lifts to keeping an eye on their homes.

That peace shatters when the retired judge is murdered and suspicion falls on Shyam himself. On the run from the police and desperate to clear his name, he realises the real killer is Parshuram, played by Akshay Kumar — a ruthless convict who is eliminating everyone he holds responsible for his years in prison. Worse, the killer’s trail leads straight to little Nandini, and Shyam becomes the only barrier between her and a man who never misses his target. Every clue he gathers must be pieced together from sounds, smells and half-remembered details that everyone else overlooked.

What follows is a battle of wits in which a man who cannot see must outthink an enemy who can see everything. With Priyadarshan’s steady hand on the suspense and the two stars facing off in contrasting styles — one quiet and vulnerable, the other calm and menacing — Haiwaan delivers a gripping thriller about instinct, courage and the instinct to protect.
