Ranabaali (2026) is a Telugu period action drama set in the Madras Presidency of the 1870s, in the grip of a terrible famine. It tells the story of Ranabaali, a fearless warrior from the Rayalaseema region who watches his people starve while the British seize their grain, crush them with cruel taxes and forced labour, and treat their lives as worthless. While everyone else bows their heads, Ranabaali decides that enough is enough.

Standing against him is Sir Theodore Hector, a ruthless British officer who rules the region with an iron hand and answers every whisper of protest with violence. When the cruelty crosses every limit, Ranabaali picks up his weapons and strikes back, daring to raid the empire’s granaries to return the stolen food to the starving villagers. With every act of defiance, he grows from a lone rebel into a living symbol of hope for the oppressed.

By his side stands his devoted wife Jayamma, whose love, warmth and quiet courage keep him grounded even as his rebellion invites brutal retaliation upon everyone he loves. As the uprising spreads from village to village, Ranabaali must pay a heavy personal price, and the line between hero and outlaw blurs in the eyes of an empire that now wants him dead at any cost.

Mounted on a grand scale with sweeping visuals of a drought-stricken land, Ranabaali is an intense tale of courage, sacrifice and resistance against colonial oppression. Vijay Deverakonda pours himself into the title role, Rashmika Mandanna brings heart as Jayamma, and Arnold Vosloo chills as the villainous officer, in a period epic about one warrior who dared to fight for his people’s dignity and survival.
