Awarapan (2007) is a Hindi crime drama that tells the emotional story of Shivam, a cold and fearless hitman who works for a powerful Hong Kong gangster. Having lost faith in love and God after a painful past, Shivam lives a lonely life surrounded by violence, doing every job without question or emotion. Emraan Hashmi plays the role with intensity, showing a man who has buried his feelings so deeply that nothing seems able to reach his heart anymore.

Shivam’s life changes when his boss orders him to keep an eye on Reema, the mistress of the gang, and to make sure she is not involved with anyone else. While watching her, Shivam discovers that Reema secretly loves a young man and dreams of a free life away from the world of crime. Her courage and her longing for freedom slowly awaken Shivam’s buried memories of his own lost love, Aaliyah, whose absence has haunted him for years and turned him into the man he has become.

Torn between loyalty to his boss and the voice of his own conscience, Shivam finds himself standing at a crossroads where one decision can change many lives. The film moves between the dark streets of Hong Kong and Shivam’s painful memories, showing how love, guilt, and sacrifice can push even the hardest heart toward redemption. Without revealing too much, the story builds toward an emotional climax where Shivam must decide what his life, and his love, mean to him.

Awarapan is remembered for its soulful music, direction, and one of Emraan Hashmi’s finest performances. It is not just a crime film but a touching love story about second chances, freedom, and the price a man pays to protect someone else’s happiness, making it a favourite among fans of emotional Bollywood dramas.
