It is the early 2000s, and for a cheerful schoolboy in a small town, life is a simple cycle of cricket matches, cycle rides, classroom mischief and the terror of surprise tests. Everything changes when a new student joins his class, and an innocent first love begins to rearrange his priorities, his timetable and his carefully maintained reputation among friends.

School life unfolds in loving detail: strict but caring teachers, parents who dream big on small incomes, exam-season prayers and friendships tested by silly misunderstandings. Cassette songs, landline calls, tiffin exchanges and marks announced before the whole class recreate an era before smartphones, when a single glance across the school corridor could carry a boy happily through an entire week of homework and tuition classes. The boy’s attempts to impress his crush, from borrowed film dialogues to disastrous stage performances, create comedy that slowly deepens into the confusion and courage of growing up.

At home, his father’s quiet sacrifices and his mother’s everyday wisdom begin to register in ways they never did before. A family difficulty and a school setback arrive together, forcing the teenager to understand that adolescence is not only about first love, but also about responsibility, honesty and standing by the people who stand by him.

Youth is a warm coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama that recreates the 2000s school years with affection and detail. Ken Karunas leads a likeable young cast, while Suraj Venjaramoodu and Devadarshini ground the story as believable parents. Nostalgic, funny and tender, the film will remind every viewer of the classrooms where they first became themselves. Its period songs, uniforms and playground rituals are recreated with such care that older audiences may feel genuinely transported back in time.
